Questions
Questions from social work teams
Is this the same as CBT?
It is closely related. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) is one of the newer cognitive behavioural therapies, in the same family as CBT. Like CBT, it is practical and skills-based. Where CBT often works on changing difficult thoughts, ACT helps a child notice those thoughts and feelings without being ruled by them, and move towards what matters to them. We use elements of CBT, alongside ACT, in our work with children.
Do you take referrals from any area?
Yes. We work in person across Kildare, Dublin and the surrounding counties, and further afield on request, with travel charged at mileage rates. Online sessions are available anywhere in Ireland.
What do you need from us to give a quote?
The child's age, the area, roughly how many sessions you have in mind, and a short description of the difficulties, without names or identifying details.
Can you see several children on one day?
Yes. If you have more than one child who needs support, we can see them at your office on the same day, and travel is charged once.
Can you provide reports for reviews?
If asked, we provide a short written progress report on the work done with the child and the impact of any changes or strategies, and we attend the review meeting.
